Sponsor Profile: Barnett Clutches and Cables

We at Barnett Tool & Engineering are proud to make 2013 our 65th year in the motorcycle industry! As we begin our 65th year, let’s reflect back over the years to see how Barnett and the entire motorcycle industry have changed since our early beginnings in 1948.
Charlie Barnett first started in his garage making parts for his riding buddies. He knew he could make better parts for motorcycles than what was being offered and spare parts weren't easy to come by, so Charlie started making his own. In 1948, he opened a shop in a small storefront in Huntington Park, CA. Cable assemblies for British bikes were the majority of the business back in the early days. The late 50's brought the introduction of Barnett clutch plates. Thankfully, Honda helped bring motorcycling more into the mainstream in the USA and this created a greater demand for quality aftermarket products. New products, new ideas, and the involvement of the next generation of the Barnett family shaped the 60's for Barnett Tool & Eng. The 70's and 80's brought growth, expansion and new and improved materials. The 90's brought more new materials, such as our exclusive Kevlar friction material which we were the first to introduce in 1991, as well as improved product designs and state of the art technology and machinery. Today, we continue to seek out new and improved materials, machinery and technology in order to produce the finest quality clutches and cables for your motorcycle or ATV.
Committed to producing top quality products at fair and competitive prices, Barnett products are 100% made in the USA and the vast majority of our products are manufactured in-house at our 43,000 sq. ft. facility. In addition, we only purchase materials and services from companies within the USA.
We at Barnett continue to be dedicated to bringing the highest quality motorcycle products to our customers while continuing to follow Charlie and Afton Barnett's company principles from many years ago. Barnett Tool & Eng. continues to be family owned and operated with three generations of the Barnett family currently involved in day to day operations and we will continue to strive to manufacture and produce only the highest quality American made motorcycle products.

Soul-The Art & Culture of Motorcycles

We would like to welcome Soul to the Art Show

SOUL - "The Art and Culture of the Motorcycle" exhibit is part of the David Mann Motorcycle Art Show.. It's an exhibit named and curated by Anna Marco, senior feature editor of Ol' Skool Rodz and Car Kulture Deluxe,  made up of many artists pieces and will be one of many exhibits within the art show.

We moved halls to the gem and mineral building in an effort to increase the art show size and impact with bikes and cars included as well. It's gonna be awesome! Big Dave Hansen, who is an art major and was David Mann's manager, is the curator of the David Mann & Friends Art Exhibit, as well as the show's director.

US VERSUS THEM & THE DAVID MANN CHOPPERFEST 10TH ANNIVERSARY

From James Banuelos, co-owner of US VERSUS THEM and the creator Oil & Water Art Exhibit

Last month I was contacted by Lisa Ballard (Chopcult) that put me in contact with the organizers of the Chopperfest in regards to doing a smaller more focused Oil & Water art show exhibit as part of their event. Chopperfest is a tribute to one of the most recognized biker culture artist. As a kid I remember always being stoked on the centerfold layouts in Easy Rider magazines, getting a peek at some biker boobs was always a treat! Big Dave one of Mr.Mann’s close friends and I discussed how times had changed and how the juxtaposition of art and other subcultures seems to be a rad fusion and that the genres had always been people of similar backgrounds and of counter culture mindsets. After many conversations with one of the show coordinators Tory DuVarney we all agreed Oil & Water would be a good fit not comprising anything on either side, a true win win situation. In addition to curating a exhibition with the show I suggested that Chopperfest consider UVT doing a collab tee for official event product. After all the terms were agreed to we set forth and are in full motion. Tee art is 100% from Dave Mann archives and I will do an additional post in weeks to come, showing layout. Within a few weeks I selected the artist I felt would be a good mixture bringing in talent from within and outside the industry. With commitments from Jason Jessee, Sonny Boy, Harpoon, Vince Felix , Risk, Headcase, Sketchy Tank, Burrito Breath, The Pizz, Axis and Derek Riggs this art show should be one no one wants to miss. I want to say that this is truly and honor and I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity, thank you Tory, Big Dave and the Mann family. Also want to thank continual sponsors and Oil & Water show supporters BILTWELL, LOWBROW CUSTOMS and CITY FOG. See everyone in December!
